Tracy Thompson is the owner of The Wedding Resource Center and Cloud Nine Music. Tracy began her career some 24 years ago in broadcasting and by doing mobile DJ work. During her 24 years in broadcasting, Tracy was planning and orchestrating events for television and radio stations, acting as Promotions Director, Marketing Coordinator and Program Director, planning and orchestrating many events, including a mass wedding on the radio in Oxnard, California. In 1984, when Tracy began in the wedding industry, Wedding Coordinators were yet to be discovered. During her work as a Disc Jockey and Master of Ceremonies in the wedding industry, Tracy was always assisting the bride with her music selections, seating, timelines, budgets and vendor selections; so it seemed a natural move into the business of Wedding Planning. Tracy also helped plan a major event involving a mass wedding at Magic Mountain in Santa Clarita, which also tied in radio station KIIS-FM in Los Angeles. After moving to California from Ohio in 1993, Tracy worked for R&R (Radio and Records Magazine - the industry's music source) as a graphic designer. She then produced countdown shows for Casey Kasem and other celebrities at Westwood One Entertainment and has flown around Los Angeles reporting news and traffic for stations such as KNX News Radio, KFWB, KLSX, KRLA and many others. In addition, she has worked for a local wedding coordinator in Santa Clarita, CA doing everything from prop and set-building to meeting clients, determining their desires and carrying out their wedding plans. Tracy has also officially launched her photography division. "Many photographers were telling me I had a great eye for photography, and it was difficult to find a decent photographer for under $2,500 to $3,000, so my passion for photography has turned into a benefit for both brides and corporate clients," says Tracy. "We capture memories and emotions through our photojournalistic style of photography, documenting the details and magic of every event we do." With Tracy's background in radio and television, stay tuned! There may be a wedding show in the works! When she's not on radio or television, Tracy is busy working with brides, corporate clients and government agencies on wedding receptions, corporate parties, festivals, Rose Parade floats and community functions. She owns a wedding resource center serving all of Southern California and has held the first of many wedding certification classes for those wishing to be wedding planners. Tracy opened up a storefront called The Wedding Resource Center in Santa Clarita in 2001. "We got an overwhelming response from the community", says Tracy. "We were seeing 80 brides per month, even the first month that we were open! What does that tell you about the need for such a business to help these brides?" Tracy has this to say about her Wedding Certification Courses: "I love what I do and I love to teach others to do the same. With the right training and mentoring, anyone can become a Certified Wedding and Event Planner. Working from home on your own schedule is not only "green", but with the current economic climate, this is the perfect way to add to your income and do something you love. This is an incredible business of helping people plan the happiest day of their lives. And I'm glad to be a part of helping make dreams come true." Tracy also writes wedding columns for various publications and was featured on Paramount Television's website with her wedding tips and techniques. She will soon be publishing her own book on wedding and event planning (UPDATE: THE BOOK IS COMING OUT IN DECEMBER, 2008! WE ARE SO EXCITED). In addition, she sometimes acts as a guest lecturer at Antelope Valley College and has also been doing motivational speaking engagements for an international company, with thousands in attendance. Tracy has worked as an event specialist, creating festivals and community events for various cities around Southern and Central California. She co-designed the Palmdale Fall Festival's entry, winning "Best New Idea" at a California Festival (CalFest) conference in the Napa Valley in February, 2008 and has been involved as Rose Parade Project Manager, overseeing a city float in the 2008 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. She is also in the process of creating Special Event Training for festivals, chambers, government agencies and corporate clients who desire to take their event to the next level and will be speaking at the 2009 CalFest Conference in Anaheim, California.
